How to Install WordPress Themes from the Dashboard


Simply put, a WordPress theme is a piece of software that gives the front-end of your website a particular look. The front-end of your website; the part where the visitors sees assumes a certain layout whenever you install a theme. Installing a new WordPress theme is important as it gives a particular look to your site layout and depending on which niche you’re in, installing a theme will help make your website attractive to visitors. In this post, you’re going to learn how to install a WordPress theme.

The first step is to log in to your WordPress dashboard and you can do that by adding “/wp-admin/” to your website URL. You fill in your username and password and it takes you to the WordPress dashboard.

Go over to the vertical menu bar and hover over “appearance” and click “themes“. It leads you to the themes page. WordPress comes with some default pre-installed themes. You can do a live preview of these themes to see which one you’d like and then activate. The Twenty Twenty-one theme is the latest theme developed by WordPress, you can start from that one.

But if you want to install a different theme, you click on the “Add new” icon. You then choose from the ones shown or search for the themes. Let’s say you want to install the Kadence theme (it’s a very nice theme, by the way), you search for “Kadence“. Once the results show up, you install and then activate.
